BIO
September 3,1969 Mark Hooker was born to Ronnie and Judy Hooker of Cleveland, TN. As a child Mark always had a rhythm or a song in his mind. Coming from a long line of preachers, choir directors and singers Mark grew up in the local church under his fathers preaching and singing with his family. At the young age of 3 years old Mark along with his sister Debbie would stand on the pulpit or alter and sing with his mom and dad in church services. As Mark began to grow God began to show the talents that He had given Mark. One of Mark's most memorable moments in life was at the Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga, TN. The Kingsmen were doing a live recording. Big Jim Hamell ask all that sang in their choir at church to come and help them make a choir for their recording. Mark and his father went down to the stage and stood with Big Jim. They began to sing I'm standing on the solid rock. After the first chorus Jim Hamell stopped the music handed Mark his microphone and told Little Ernie Phillips look out he had found somebody that could sing as high and as loud as Ernie could. It was on then. Everything Ernie did, Mark did. What a time that was and inspiration in the life of a young boy who wanted to sing everything he could for the Lord. Mark went on to play the drums for The Gospel Echoes and The Boanerges Trio. He has served in churches as assistant music director before taking a staff role as Minister of Music for 2 different churches.
STATEMENT
I am so glad for my Christian up bringing. I was taught at an early age that our life here on earth was a master plan that God saw many years ago when He looked down through time. You see the Bible says that He knows the plans He has for us and it also says that He knew me when I was formed in my mothers womb. Having said that it was on a Sunday afternoon going to grandmas house when Jesus decided to introduce Himself to me. Dad had preached that Sunday morning and was talking to mom about the service while driving down Hogan Road in Rossville,GA when they heard weeping in the back seat. Mom ask me what was wrong and I told her I wanted to get saved. Immediately dad pulled the car over and I climbed over the front seat into mom's lap. There I met Jesus as my Savior. He is more than I could have ever asked for. At that time all I knew was that I was saved and wanted to tell everyone about it. As life passes by I still feel like that same little boy in momma's lap. I want to tell what Jesus has done for me. He has been the best friend I ever had, a provider when there seemed to be no way, a shelter in the midst of the storm, a healer when sickness was present, and a strong tower in a time of trouble. You see friend Jesus is my everything. The song the Cathedrals use to sing all that I am or ever hope to be I owe it all to him is so true. The Lord Has given me a song to sing and a message in my heart. Whether it is in the good times or bad the psalmist said I will sing unto the Lord a new song. That is my heart's desire. As God gives me the ability to go and sing I want to help the wounded and weary and the heavy-hearted understand Jesus really does care. And to the lost, help them to know what a wonder savior He is. Christ is not to big that He can't feel our pain or know our hearts desires. To someone who don't know Jesus Christ, He is patiently waiting for you to call on His name and allow Him to be your personal Savior. Remember John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. We are whosoever and the Bible tells us that we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. One day I believe Jesus is coming back and it is my prayer that if you don't know Christ you will let Him become Lord of your life, if your hurting or heavy hearted remember weeping endureth for the night but joy comes in the morning. God bless you and I look forward to meeting and seeing you at church or concert venue we may be at.
