Wallace Nelms - Tenor

   Wallace was born and grew up in Kingsport, TN.  He attended local elementary, middle, and high schools and is college trained in music and computer science with BA and Associate degrees.  Wallace is married to Nancy and they have two children, David and Anthony. They are grandparents with 9 grandchildren.  He spent 30 years with Eastman Kodak Company retiring in 1993 with significant accomplishments in the field of Research and Development.  Wallace is a military veteran with service in the US Army and is a member of The American Legion Hammond Post # 3.  He is active in The Gideons International having held several organizational positions. Wallace and Nancy are members of the Orebank Missionary Baptist Church.  Wallace served as  Minister of Music at Vermont United Methodist Church.  He was there 4 � years with a very successful music ministry. He owns and operates a recording studio specializing in digital recording using ProTools and Cakewalk software.

Wallace is also an accomplished pianist, a BMI affiliated writer, a composer, and motivator in the Gospel Music field. He plays several other instruments including the trumpet and can sing all four vocal parts. After owning and operating The Apostles for seven years, Wallace joined The Landmarks in January 1987.  In 1994 he joined the world renowned Hovie Lister & The Statesmen Quartet as their tenor singer.  He was a member of the Statesmen Quartet until Hovie�s death in December, 2001.  While a member of The Statesmen,  he appeared on many of the Bill Gaither Homecoming Videos and made appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and the Nashville Now television shows.  He traveled to England, Ireland, and Scotland with a group of the Gaither Homecoming Friends in September, 2000.  He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame in April, 1998. 

Wallace rejoined the Landmarks in January, 2002, after Hovie�s death and retirement of the Statesmen name. The Landmarks were disbanded in October, 2005.

Wallace joined Sacred Harmony Quartet in January, 2006. Sacred Harmony Quartet  performed  their last concert on Easter Sunday morning, 2009.
